I was stalking the internet a few months back trying to find the perfect wooden waterfall console table to put in my living room. And no matter where I looked, this West Elm console table from their Emmerson line kept calling my name.

I first spotted it in the home of Erin on Instagram from theheartandhaven.com (who by the way you should follow if you love home decor and want to drool over a beautiful home!) and fell in love with it. I liked the idea of a waterfall console table because I could have the option of either putting baskets for storage underneath or ottomans for extra seating.

I don’t know about you, but once I have my heart set on something I like, it’s very hard to settle with something else. The price tag was the only thing holding me back, so I did do my due diligence of looking for “dupes” or cheaper options.

And for weeks I looked, but couldn’t find a console table with the same wood tone and look that I wanted. Several of my Instagram friends even said we should just make one, and it did cross my mind for a moment!

Should We Have Made Our Own Console Table?

My husband and I started looking up youtube tutorials to see how to make one, but I was super pregnant, my husband was exhausted after work and we had two small kids at home and the idea of building furniture at that moment sounded super exhausting. haha.

I mean, it took us almost 2 months to just do ONE vertical paneled accent wall which really is a weekend job for any normal couple. LOL.

So we decided to save our money and splurge and bought the console table I couldn’t stop thinking about. It’s priced at $599 but after stalking West Elm’s site for a sale, I scored it for 20% off (I never buy higher ticket items full price) and got it for $479.20.

And you know what…sometimes it’s okay to invest in a good piece of furniture, especially if it’s a versatile piece that you know will stay in your home for a very long time.

Speaking of higher ticket items….before I buy anything expensive, I always look up every photo and review I can find (to realllllly make sure it’s exactly what I want to invest in). And then I sit and think about it….for months!

Luckily, several people have uploaded their console table to the West Elm website for others to see, as shown below.

We don’t have a West Elm store in my city so I couldn’t check it out in-store. And the last thing I want to do is buy something expensive, especially a piece of furniture and then end up returning it! (argh, major pain in the butt).

So I am putting this review together for you peeps out there who are just like me!

It Arrived Well Packaged

West Elm delivered the console table on time and well packaged. There was no damage or issues with the table, which I was super happy with. Nothing is more frustrating than opening a package you are super excited about and finding out it’s damaged! No bueno.

Easy To Assemble

The table came with clear instructions and was easy to assemble. It took my husband about 10 minutes to put together. I probably could have done it myself but I was super pregnant and too lazy haha.

As you can see from this picture, the table came in three separate pieces and had hardware and a wrench included! Literally, foolproof.

The console table was quick and easy to assemble. It arrived in three parts with all the hardware and tools needed to put it together.

All you have to do is screw in 6 large screws into the table. Super easy!

This Wooden Console Table Has Character

This console table is part of the Emmerson collection and is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council and is made from 100% solid reclaimed pine harvested from shipping pallets (I thought this was pretty cool!).

This is a natural wood console table and is a solid piece of furniture.

Each table is individually handcrafted and has its own natural knots, slight cracks and color variations making each table unique and different from each other.

The West Elm Emmerson console table is certified by the FSC and is made from 100% recycled pine from shipping pallets.

Unfinished Reclaimed Pine

The tag that came with the table also said that since it’s reclaimed wood, it has an inherently varied surface and that it may bow slightly over time. I haven’t noticed any bowing in ours, but we have only had it a few months.

So if you are looking for a console table with unique characteristics, made of solid reclaimed pine and one of a kind, this table is for you!

There are variations in color and texture throughout the console table. — I love the variation in color and texture in the wood.

This console table is beautiful and has a neutral wood tone with lots of character.

West Elm Emmerson Console Table Cleaning Instructions

Since this console table is made from reclaimed wood, West Elm instructed to only wipe with a clean dry cloth (cleaning chemicals are not recommended). They also state that the hardware may loosen over time and to periodically check to make sure all connections are tight.

Pretty easy peasy.

My Final Thoughts On This Splurge

So was my West Elm console table obsession and splurge purchase worth it?

My answer is: “Yes!”

And I am not the only one impressed with the quality and craftsmanship…..so is my husband. And he is pretty picky about furniture.

This console table by West Elm is made of recycled pine from shipping pallets and has lots of unique characteristics.

Also, having a household with toddlers, my kids have successfully not damaged the table! It has held up to the random kicks and jabs that it gets (not that my 4-year-old daughter can do much harm)…..but still.

One thing is for sure, it’s definitely a solid piece of wood, which I love!
