Do you walk into your kitchen and hate the ugly sight of your trash can? Do you have a smaller kitchen and need to conserve space? Or maybe you are just over your toddlers or dogs getting into your trash can?
If you said yes to any of those questions, I have one-word for you : Rev A Shelf. Okay, I guess that’s more like 3 words, but whatever. The point is that it’s awesome!
REV A SHELF DOUBLE 35 QT
A double 35 qt. trash can pull out system to keep your kitchen waste container hidden and still easily accessible.
I hated the fact that my trash can was out for everyone to see and in my opinion, just didn’t look pretty! As a stay at home mom, I starred at that trash can long enough and decided to finally do something about it!
Plus the trash can was damaging our wood floors and wall from the constant back and forth movement over the years. My husband even put a sheet of shelf liner under the trash can to keep it from moving, which made things look extra cute (totally sarcastic).
The Kitchen Trash Can Struggle Is Real
For a second, I thought maybe I could put the trash can in my pantry. But that sounded kind of gross because I didn’t want our trash stored where my food and toiletries were too. I also considered putting a small trash can under our sink, but that space was too small and already so crowded with cleaning supplies.
So I did some research and found an affordable and easy solution that would once and for all hide my trash can forever! And it is the Rev A Shelf Double Pull Out Trash Can.
the Rev A shelf that I bought
There are several different designs and options out there, but this specific Rev A Shelf is the one that worked for my needs and fit my cabinet space. Plus it was the more affordable option of the line too!
.
Wow, that’s a super long name, but I wanted to write it out so you know exactly which model I am writing about!
My cabinet space is 15″ wide, 23″ deep and 20″ tall. This Rev A Shelf works with 14.5″ wide openings and fits perfectly in my kitchen cabinet. It has double trash cans (perfect for both trash and recycling) and a pull-out handle.
Why should you do an In cabinet Trash Can?
Some people are cool with leaving their trash cans out and I am not here to judge you! I’ve done it my whole life. But there are definitely pros to putting your kitchen trash can inside your cabinet.
- Keeps your kitchen organized and clutter-free.
- Hides the unsightly view of your trash can.
- It helps to keep your toddlers and pets out of the trash.
- Saves space.

Double Trash Can – Perfect if you Recycle
We recycle as much as we can but over the past two years in our new home, we didn’t have a recycling bin in our kitchen. We ended up putting our recyclables on our kitchen counter until one of us walked it out to the garage recycling bin. I hated that we didn’t have a solution in place and that the clutter would build up everyday!
So I was super excited to see that Rev A Shelf had a double trash can pull out, which could be used for both trash and recyclables.
How To Install A Rev A Shelf Pull Out Trash Can
Installing the Rev A Shelf was incredibly easy and only took 10-15 mins to do! Literally, all you have to do is clip the frame together and drill in 4 screws (which they provide), into the base for your cabinet and it’s done!
We used an electric screwdriver, which made it super easy to install.
Here are all the parts it comes with.
You first snap these metal frames and brackets together, over the base with these black plastic clips. This is the frame that holds the trash cans in place. Next, you will attach the pulling bar on the side.
Now that my frame is built, we got the cabinet ready for install. My cabinets have these pull out shelves, which were easy to remove.
After removing the shelf, we next used an electric screwdriver to screw the base of the Rev A Shelf onto the base of my cabinet. It takes 4 screws and is super easy to install!
The Rev A Shelf INstallation is done!
And it’s done! The trash cans pull out very easily and smoothly. You can tell that it’s high quality and made very well. I was seriously so excited to have this finally installed in my kitchen!
Replacement Bins AVailable
The 35 qt. (8.75 gallons) black trash bins it comes with are very sturdy, durable and made of thick hard plastic. If for some reason you are needing a replacement trash bin for this specific Rev A Shelf, there are replacement bins available!
Measurements of the bins are: 14.375 (W) x 10.5 (D) x 17.875 (H) inches

If you aren’t into the pull out handle (which I actually don’t mind) and want a door mount instead. You can buy that mounting kit on Amazon.
My final thoughts
I love this kitchen trash can storage solution! And I am seriously kicking myself for not getting it sooner. For the past two years I have been complaining about our trash can being out and it literally took 10 mins to fix!
