If you are looking for the perfect classic green paint for your home, come check out my review of Benjamin Moore’s Backwoods.
Green paint is a fun but also difficult color to choose! There are so many different shades of green out there and when I was looking for the perfect color for my son’s nursery, I swatched about 8 different shades! I ultimately ended up choosing Benjamin Moore’s Backwoods, which is a beautiful dark green with warm undertones.
I am so in love with this green paint color and very pleased with how it turned out, that I had to do a review for you! I know how hard it can be to find the perfect green shade, so I am sharing a few pictures of this gorgeous color in other people’s homes as well.
After you check out this color, I think you will agree with me…Backwoods is one pretty shade!
Benjamin Moore Backwoods
Here is a quick description of Backwoods! I bought a gallon of this color in the eggshell finish from Home Depot. Home Depot has a database of different BM colors that you can have made there.
Description:
- Classic and Timeless
- Medium Dark Green Shade
- Warm Undertones
- Pairs well with white, gray, brass and wood tones.
Why I choose Backwoods For The Nursery
When designing my son’s nursery, we built a DIY Board and Batten accent wall with wallpaper above it and wanted a green color that would pair well with the vintage feel I was going for. I didn’t want a green that was too light, too blue, or too dark. I wanted a green that was deep enough to add a sophisticated feel to his room, but that still had some warmth to it.
I knew I was going to add brass and wood tones in his room and a warm/red toned rug, so when doing my swatches, I made sure to hold a sample next to the rug and wallpaper I had already bought.
Holding a swatch next to some of the key pieces in his room, really helped me visualize how it would look! I highly recommend doing this, especially if you are a visual person like me.
I had some extra hardboard panels from past projects, so I painted Backwoods on a piece of wood. I also painted a big swatch of it on the wall to see how it looked during different times of the day. You will be surprised to see how differently paint looks in a room as the day progresses!
So after doing all of this, I made my decision quickly and knew this was the perfect color for his room.

Backwoods by Benjamin Moore Is Perfect
I honestly feel that Backwoods is a very versatile green paint that can be used in so many different spaces in your home! As you saw from the pictures I shared, it cannot do wrong. It is classic and dark, but still has a soft sophisticated feel that adds the perfect amount of yummy moodiness.
I hope my review helped you get a better feel for this green paint color. But like any color you choose, make sure to swatch before you commit! And check out the color throughout the day, because it does change depending on the lighting. But if you do end up using it, I don’t think you will be disappointed!
Have a great day!
