If you have been following me, you know I love making my own wreaths! This year I decided to make a classic and simple Christmas wreath featuring a pretty black and white ribbon and antique brass bells. And it cost me around $45 to make!
You guys, these bells are amazing! I was so stoked when I saw them inside my local Kirklands store and bought two! They are the cheapest brass bells I could find and are a major dupe for the Mcgee and Co bells.
In-store they were $15.99 but for some reason online it shows $59.99. Pshh very strange….I know. So definitely go in-store at Kirkland’s if you decide to buy these. They also usually have some kind of discount going on too to give you more savings.
And if you don’t have a Kirkland’s, I did find similar bells at Hobby Lobby for $14.99.
Okay, so let’s get started on the tutorial! I have linked all the materials I used below and of course per usual, I bought all my greenery at Hobby Lobby for 40% off! Woohoo! The total cost for everything was around $45 with discounts.
Materials Needed
- 18″ Grapevine Wreath
- 5 Faux Green Pine Stems
- 1 Faux Eucalyptus Bush
- Ticking Black Woven Ribbon
- Brass Bells (in-store they were $15.99)
- Hot Glue
- Floral Wire
DIY Christmas Wreath With Ribbon and Brass Bells Tutorial
I hope you enjoy this tutorial and are able to add a beautiful and simple DIY Christmas Wreath for your front door too!
Step 1: Trim and Attach Faux Pine STems
Before trimming, I first framed the wreath with each of the pine stems to map out how I wanted the wreath to look. Once I figured out the placement of each stem, I cut them down with my wire cutters.
Once each stem was trimmed, I tied each of them with floral wire. I used two wires to secure each pine stem onto the wreath (one towards the top and one towards the bottom).
This is how the wreath looked with the faux pine stems attached! I used a total of 5 stems to cover my 18″ grapevine wreath. You can definitely stop here and add a bow and bells but I decided I wanted a little more texture and greenery, so I added the eucalyptus next.
Step 2: Trim and Attach Faux Eucalyptus
You guys, this faux eucalyptus from Hobby Lobby is so realistic looking! I bought one bush of them and cut them off with my wire cutter.
With the eucalyptus, I didn’t use floral wire to attach them. I ended up just tucking them into the grapevine wreath and they have held up really well! You gotta shimmy them into a tight spot, or else they will fall out. But you can definitely use floral wire for extra security.
I was just too lazy haha!
Step 3: Make The Bow and Attach On Top
I absolutely love this ribbon from World Market! It’s so classic and pretty and is a little thicker, which helps maintain the shape of the bow. They sell two different widths and I bought the 1.5″ thick ribbon.
To attach the bow to the wreath, I used hot glue and popped it right on. If you want to reuse this wreath and have the bow detachable, you can run floral wire behind it and attach it to the wreath too.
Kinda wished I did that instead of hot gluing it! Oh well!
Step 4: Hang Brass Bells And Wreath
Like I mentioned earlier, these bells are such a great price and so so beautiful! They really took this Christmas wreath to the next level and gave it a more festive feel. When hanging it on my door, I placed the bells first on my door hook and then attached the wreath over it.
Step 5: ALL DONE!
